On April 24, 2024, two all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) were handed over to the Department of Protected Natural Areas under the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The ATV's were procured with funding from the Global Environment Facility (GEF) within the framework of the joint project of the Ministry of Ecology and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) titled "Conservation and Sustainable Management of Lakes, Wetlands, and Riparian Corridors as a Basis for Sustainable and Land Degradation Neutral Landscapes in the Aral Sea Basin Supporting Sustainable Livelihoods."
The main goal of the project is to enhance the stability of ecosystems and improve local livelihoods in the Lower Amudarya and Aral Sea basins by preventing land degradation and promoting the integrated management of land and water resources around protected natural areas, key biodiversity areas, and important bird habitats.
